OUR PASTOR

Fernando Cabrera is the senior Pastor of New Life Outreach International Church in the Bronx, New York. Pastor Fernando received Christ at the age of 17 years old, and his life was radically changed. Born in the Bronx but raised in California, Fernando received a calling from God in his early 20's to begin a church in the Bronx after completing his BA in Biblical Studies. In the early 1980's he met Pastor Victor Torres, who took him under his wing, mentored him and provided him with wisdom he would need on his journey. After serving in Richmond, VA as the Director of New Life for Youth; a rehabilitation center for young men for 3 years, Pastor Fernando set off to begin New Life Bronx in 1988.

Pastor Fernando moved his family to the Bronx, where he returned to school for his Masters Degree and Doctorate in Counseling. Pastor Fernando worked as a NYC Department of Education Guidance Counselor for many years, and later became a professor and director of the Counseling and Mental Health program at Mercy College. In 2009, Pastor Fernando felt it was time to make more change in the Bronx and with the encouragement and backing of his congregation, he was elected as a New York City Councilman. He was re-elected in 2013 and again in 2017 and served until 2021. He became a Senior Advisor in the Mayor’s Office of Fatih Based and Community Partnerships in 2022. He was ranked #7 in the City and State Power Faih Leaders in all of New York City in 2022.

Pastor Fernando is passionate about seeing people live in a relationship with Jesus Christ. He has devoted his life to outreach ministry and building a church for the people of the Bronx.

Pastor Fernando has been married for over 36 years to Elvia Cabrera and has two children: Lissette Feliciano, married to Carlos Feliciano, and Joshua D. Cabrera, married to Narunee Cabrera. He is a proud grandfather to six grandchildren Zechariah, Nehemiah, Amariah, Tobiah, Luke and Madeline. His entire family serves along side him in the ministry at New Life Bronx.
